Beginners Kit
Each kit contains: 12 page instruction
booklet 22+ feet of #5 round reed 1 ounce of natural raffia 1/2 ounce of
dark brown dyed raffia 2 #18 blunt tapestry needles.
This is more than adequate material to make the 3" X 3" project basket
shown above. The 12-page instruction booklet was written and illustrated by Joyce
Shannon and contains knowledge gained from 30 years of practical experience. The
kit is suitable for beginners and advanced basket weavers alike. The focus of the
kit is construction with simple design and shaping elements as well. The booklet
covers preparing the materials, starting the basket, adding new raffia, adding new
cane, ending the cane and simple elements of shape and design. The booklet contains
over 2 dozen illustrations including step by step illustrations for starting the
center. These instructions were written explicitly for cane and raffia and can be

natural raffia 1.5 ounces dark brown dyed raffia 2 #18 blunt tapestry needles
This is adequate materials to make a 12" plate in the design above or another
of your choosing. This Intermediate kit is an in-depth look at the geometric designs
of frets and herringbones on plates. It contains over 70 photos and illustrations.
Includes step-by-step instructions and photos for the simplest designs with an overview
of a variety of modifications. Also included are a design template and instructions

Intermediate Kit: Focus on Shape
This kit is still under
construction. There will be explanations for shaping the crown and how to make lids
that fit tight, embroidering the stars and the simple crescent moon design on the
lid.
